Failure to maintain required temperatures
This factor can be assessed only in relation to specific goods and confirmed handling circumstances. The mere presence of a defect does not prove a particular cause.
Which data is examined
- the type and properties of the specific products;
- the chronology of delivery, storage, inspection and discovery of changes;
- temperature/humidity readings and logs, if available;
- the condition of containers and packaging;
- acceptance records, transport records, warehouse documents and photographs.
Assessment of causation
A deviation in storage or transport temperature from the conditions specified for the particular products. A conclusion is possible only when the materials taken together allow the factor to be linked to the observed change and other significant circumstances to be ruled out or taken into account.
When a conclusion will be limited
If the data is fragmentary, records of storage conditions are missing or the object has already been altered/disposed of, the expert must treat this as a limitation. Laboratory examinations or additional documents may be needed where necessary.
What to read next
Send materials for a preliminary assessment
Describe the situation and attach the available documents and photographs. After reviewing them, the work format, required materials, cost and time frame can be determined.
- we will check whether the task falls within commodity examination competence;
- we will determine whether documents and an inspection are sufficient;
- if specialist tests are needed, we will identify the laboratory component;
- we will indicate a possible format for the result.
