Division of competence: education in commodity science does not mean that any microbiological, veterinary, sanitary or chemical test can be performed independently. Where necessary, a multidisciplinary examination involving a specialist laboratory is arranged for such tasks.

What the expert does

  • examines product quality and commercial condition using the commodity characteristics available for assessment;
  • analyses packaging, labelling, delivery, storage and transport documents;
  • examines signs of spoilage and circumstances of changes in commercial condition when sufficient source data is available;
  • determines the value of goods or a batch when that task is assigned;
  • prepares specialist opinions and, following procedural appointment, expert reports;
  • reviews expert reports.
Preliminary assessment

Send materials for a preliminary assessment

Describe the situation and attach the available documents and photographs. After reviewing them, the work format, required materials, cost and time frame can be determined.

  • we will check whether the task falls within commodity examination competence;
  • we will determine whether documents and an inspection are sufficient;
  • if specialist tests are needed, we will identify the laboratory component;
  • we will indicate a possible format for the result.
